President of the Parliamentary Commission for the Revision of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo paid a visit to the Constitutional Court

15 June 2011 - Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Court received today Mr Arsim Bajrami, President and members of the Parliamentary Commission for the Revision of the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo. Mr Bajrami, who visited the Constitutional Court as a Minister of Public Services back in 2009, thanked President Omejec for receiving him again, and briefly addressed the work and aims of the Parliamentary Commission for the Revision of the Kosovo Constitution. The Commission, which was founded in April this year, aims at drafting the revisions of the 2008 Constitution. Revisions primarily include a new election procedure and jurisdiction of the President of the Republic, who shall be elected directly by citizens. Mr Barjami noted that the Croatian community shall be given the national minority status and thus guaranteed a seat in the Parliament. The talks were also held about the jurisdiction of the Croatian Constitutional Court related to the "impeachment" procedure of the President of the Republic, since the new Kosovo Constitution will provide the Constitutional Court of Kosovo with the same competencies.
