50th anniversary of constitutional judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina

31 March 2014 - President of the Croatian Constitutional Court, Professor Dr Jasna Omejec and Judges Slavica Banić and Dr Mato Arlović participated in the ceremonies marking the 50th anniversary of the constitutional judiciary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, held in Sarajevo on 27 and 28 March 2014.

Within a program of the celebrations the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina held a solemn session gathering numerous domestic and foreign guests, among which also a representative of the Council of Europe Secretary General, a representative of the current chair of the Conference of European Constitutional Courts, President of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and Presidents and Judges of the European Constitutional Courts.

At an international conference entitled "Constitutional Court - between a negative legislator and positive activism" which was also included in the program of the celebrations, judge Slavica Banić addressed the audience with a presentation "Constitutional Court activism as a necessity for developing legal culture - Croatian example" and Judge Dr Mato Arlović spoke about the constitutional legal framework for judicial activism in Croatia.
