President Omejec delivered a speech at the Forum on electoral systems held in Mexico City

12 June 2015 - related to elections for the House of Representatives of the General Congress of the United States of Mexico (Congreso General de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos), the Electoral Tribunal for the Federal Judiciary (Tribunal Electoral del Poder Judicial de la Federación) and the National Electoral Institute (Instituto Nacional Electoral) organised a Forum in Mexico City gathering numerous national and foreign electoral experts. Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Croatian Constitutional Court, addressed Forum's participants also as a member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe and spoke about the procedural aspect of the European electoral dispute resolutions mechanisms with the special reference on Croatian electoral system and the role of the Croatian Constitutional Court in electoral process. At the end she recalled that the electoral law in Europe has reached such a level of standardisation that we can talk about a European Electoral Heritage, the respect of which is ensured also in the Croatian electoral legislation.

Within her stay in Mexico, President Omejec, as an international observer, visited several polling stations throughout the city and attended proclamation of the electoral results in the National Electoral Institute.The Institutional Revolutionary Party (Partido Revolucionario Institucional, PRI) retained the majority in the Parliament winning between 246 and 263 lower house seats.
