Parliamentary Forum on social justice "Promoting human dignity for living in unity", Rabat, Morocco

22 February 2016 - as a member of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe, Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Constitutional Court of Croatia, took part in the Parliamentary Forum on social justice held in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco, on 19 and 20 February 2016, marking the World Day of Social Justice. After giving an opening speech, President Omejec also gave an expert lecture to gathered representatives of international organisations, members of foreign Parliaments and diplomatic corps serving in Morocco as well as national MPs about the role of constitutional justice in promoting and protecting social justice in Europe.

  The General Assembly of the United Nations proclaimed 20 February as World Day of Social Justice in 2007, inviting Member States to devote the day to promoting national activities in accordance with the objectives and goals of the 1995 World Summit for Social Development related to conquest of poverty, the goal of full employment and the fostering of social integration overriding objectives of development.
