Lecture on the European Convention on Human Rights as a part of the EU acquis communautaire

8 May 2013 - upon the invitation of Professor Borče Davitkovski, Dean of the Faculty of Law of the "St Cyril and Methodius" University in Skopje, Macedonia, Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Court, held a lecture on the "European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms as a Part of the EU acquis communautaire" at this Faculty. In her address she has taken the audience, among which were also judges of the Constitutional Court of Macedonia, on a journey through the process of standardisation of laws on the European continent induced by the force of the Convention and through the process of development of human rights protection in the EU. In the lecture she has also emphasised the problems stemming from the accession of the European Union to the Convention, in accordance with the Lisbon Treaty. 

President Omejec also participated in the solemn session marking the Europe Day and the forthcoming accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, held in the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Skopje.
