Preparatory meeting for the XVth Congress of the Conference of the European Constitutional Courts

17 - 18 October 2009 - At the preparatory meeting for the XVth Congress of the Conference of the European Constitutional Courts, held in Bucharest, Republic of Romania, the participants representing forty member states, including the delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia composed of Judge Slavica Banić and Secretary General Teodor Antić, LL M, discussed organisational and financial issues of the Congress. It was decided that the XVth Congress will be held from 23 - 25 May 2011, on the relation of the constitutional courts with the other branches of power, in particular with the parliament and the government. Furthermore, the members accepted the proposal of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Austria to host the next XVIth Congress in Vienna, Austria from 11 to 14 May 2014. Under the conclusions of the Ist World Conference on Constitutional Justice, held in January 2009 in Cape Town, South Africa, the members also addressed the Draft Statute of the World Conference on Constitutional Justice, but postponed the deciding on institutionalisation of the World Conference until the next meeting in Brazil, in January 2011.
