7 December 2006 - The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia Celebrated its 15th Anniversary

On 7th December 2006 the Constitutional Court marked its 15th anniversary at the celebration held in the National Hall. On 7 December 1991 the judges of the first composition of the Constitutional Court began their term of office in the independent and sovereign state of Croatia, and the work began of the Constitutional Court constituted in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia of 22 December 1990.

Among the honourable guests were present also the President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesić, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Vladimir Šeks, the Prime Minister Ivo Sanader, the President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia and the members of diplomatic corps.


Prof. Klarić, President of the Constitutional Court in his address presented the Court’s workings and its efficacity in realising the constitutionality and legality, the protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms and the rule of law, and also tackled the problems that the Court faces in its practice. He also expressed his strong belief that the Court: "... will continue along the path of the maximum realisation of the highest values of the constitutional order of the Republic of Croatia"
