16 - 20 September 2009 - President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Portugal, Mr. Rui Manuel de Moura Ramos, together with Judges Ms Maria Lúcia Amaral, Ms Maria Joao Antunes and Mr Carlos Pamplona de Oliveira was upon the invitation of Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia in the working and official visit to our country. The visit included several official meetings - with Mr. Luka Bebić, President of the Croatian Parliament; Mr Ivan Šimonović, Minister of Justice; Mr. Branko Hrvatin, President of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia and Professor Josip Kregar, Dean of the Zagreb Law Faculty. At the working meeting, held on 17 September, the judges of the Portuguese and Croatian Constitutional Courts exchanged experiences in relation to the organisation of constitutional judiciary in the two countries. They discussed the differences between the two constitutional systems and especially the institute of the preventive control of, among other things, also international agreements, which is the competence of the Portuguese Constitutional Court. The members of both Courts concluded that this visit will not only deepen the relations between the two Courts, but also between Portugal and Croatia.
