| H.E. Valdet Sadiku, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Croatia visited the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia | |
5 July - H.E. Valdet Sadiku, Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Croatia visited today the Croatian Constitutional Court where he was received by Professor Dr. Jasna Omejec, President of the Court and Mr. Teodor Antić, LL M, Secretary General. Ambassador Sadiku conveyed the greetings of the President of the newly established Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo and his wishes to establish bilateral relations with the Croatian Constitutional Court, which President Omejec warmly welcomed.

| President and Judges of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation visited Croatia | |
1 - 4 July - President of the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation, Professor Dr. Valery Zorkin and Judges Dr. Sergey Kazantsev, Dr. Nikolay Melnikov and Yuriy Rutkin, LLM paid, upon the invitation of Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, a return visit to our country. The visit included several official meetings – with Mr. Luka Bebić, President of the Croatian Parliament; Mrs Jadranka Kosor, President of the Croatian Government and Professor Željko Potočnjak, Dean of the Zagreb Law Faculty, while at the working meeting judges of the Croatian and Russian Constitutional Court addressed several issues regarding the constitutional judiciary of both states. The members of both Courts concluded that this visit will not only deepen the relations between the two Courts, but also between Russian Federation and Croatia. Within the visit President Zorkin also held a lecture on "The constitutional development in the Russian Federation" at the Law Faculty in Zagreb.

| Round Table on the Amendments to the Act on the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia | |
20 June - Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Court participated, upon the invitation of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Serbia, in the round table on the draft Amendments to the Act on the Constitutional Court of the Republic Serbia, which was, in the organisation of the Serbian Ministry of Justice and German Foundation for International Assistance and Cooperation, held in Belgrade on 18 June 2010. The gathering was opened by Mrs Snežana Malović, Serbian Minister of Justice, Dr. Bosa Nenadić, President of the Serbian Constitutional Court and Mr. Huck, the IRZ representative, while the expert opinions were delivered by Dr. Gerd-Heinrich Kemper and Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia. In addition to these experts the representatives of the Ministry of Justice and Judges of the Serbian Constitutional Court also took part in the deliberations. The amendments to the respective Act included several issues like the employment rights and obligations of the judges and the work of the Constitutional Court in councils.

| Regional Conference of Constitutional Courts, Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia | |
14 July - a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia composed of: Professor Jasna Omejec, president and judges Mato Arlović and Nevenka Šernhorst participated in the Regional Conference of Constitutional Courts, that was, in the organisation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Macedonia and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, held from 11 to 13 July 2010 in Ohrid, Republic of Macedonia. The representatives of the Constitutional Courts of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Germany, as well as the President of the European Court of Human Rights of the Council of Europe and the judge of this Court from Macedonia addressed the issues related to the independence of constitutional courts. The Conference concluded that the independence of constitutional courts is one of the fundamental requirements for the efficient realisation of the constitutional democracy and the effective protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and that constitutional courts can successfully realise their respective constitutional missions only if they enjoy the absolute institutional and individual independence.

| Venice Commission of the Council of Europe marked its 20th anniversary | |
5 June - Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Croatian Constitutional Court and a substitute member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) from the Republic of Croatia participated in the celebrations marking 20th anniversary of this Commission, held in Venice on 5 June 2010. The ceremony gathered more than 100 dignitaries who were addressed by the members of the state and regional government of Italy, as well as by the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Secretary General of the Council of Europe as well as the President of the Republic of Hungary, and the President of the Republic of Georgia. The Commission, established in 1990 as a partial agreement of 18 member states of the Council of Europe today has 57 full members (in addition to all Council of Europe member states the membership also includes Kyrgyzstan, Chile, the Republic of Korea, Morocco, Algeria, Israel, Tunisia, Peru, Brazil and Mexico), seven observers and one associate member. From its establishment it successfully aims at upholding the three underlying principles of Europe's constitutional heritage: democracy, human rights and the rule of law - the cornerstones of the Council of Europe.

| H.E. Paul Vandoren, Head of the Delegation of the EU to Croatia visited the Croatian Constitutional Court | |
2 June - Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Constitutional Court received today H.E. Paul Vandoren, Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Croatia. Several issues were addressed at the meeting, namely: the progress and also problems in the negotiation process of the Croatian accession to the EU, especially regarding Chapter 23 (judiciary and fundamental human rights); the jurisdiction and the workings of the Croatian Constitutional Court as well as the lack of jurisdiction in several matters and finally the necessity of the new legal framework which will enable the Court to efficiently perform its duties stipulated in the Constitution. Ambassador Vandoren proposed that President Omejec addresses members of the diplomatic corps accredited in the Republic of Croatia, so to continue the dialogue commenced in 2008. It was only than that the Constitutional Court introduced to the international community its activities and organisation as well as the role of constitutional judiciary in the legal order of the Republic of Croatia.

| H.E. Seong Ung Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Croatia visited the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia | |
7 May - Professor Jasna Omejec, President of the Croatian Constitutional Court received today H.E. Seong Ung Park, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Republic of Croatia, who gave his credentials in January this year. They discussed the issues of constitutional judiciary, which is in both countries grounded on the Austrian model and therefore their Constitutional Courts share a lot of similarities. President Omejec used the opportunity to invite, through Ambassador Park, a delegation of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Korea, in the official and working visit to Croatia.
